On April 8th, in Sun-Sa-Mo(The Mission Lovers’ Gathering), Professor Jae-young Lee gave a presentation under the theme of 'Hulbert, a friend of Korean friend'.

Missionary Hulbert was excellent at speaking 7 languages, so he was a Korean scholar and a linguist who introduced spaced in collaboration with Si-gyeong Ju. He was also the first president of the YMCA in Korea, and he supported the publication of an independent newspaper with historian.

Later, after Korea became independent, he visited Korea as a state guest, but because he was aged in his mid-80s, he died in Korea, and was buried in Yanghwajin as the first foreign society leader.

Through the dedication of Missionary Hulbert, many independence activists were produced, and he made a great contribution to modern education in Korea. Looking at the YMCA's activities even to this day, we can learn that the impact that missionary Hulbert has had on Korean society is truly great.

Today was a meaningful time to illuminate the life of a precious missionary.

Next week, Professor Byung-sun Seo will give a speech under the title of 'Bethel, the Anti-Japanese Media Fighter'.

We wish to see you next week :)
